Morehouse School of Medicine, CommonSpirit Health Leadership Converge in Atlanta for 2022 More in Common Alliance Retreat

Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) in partnership with CommonSpirit Health (CSH) recently hosted the 2022 More in Common Alliance Retreat. The day and a half, in-person meeting was held September 15-16, at MSM's National Center for Primary Care. The focus of this retreat was to create cross-workstream collaboration and a shared path toward the successful execution of the goals of More in Common Alliance. The retreat, led by Dr. Veronica Mallett, Chief Administrative Officer, More in Common Alliance, was attended by regional presidents and CEOs, hospital presidents, CEOs, MSM President and CEO Dr. Valerie Montgomery Rice, CommonSpirit Health President and COO Mr. Marvin O'Quinn, and other key stakeholders from both organizations.

The retreat featured engaging presentations and remarks from three dynamic keynote speakers: Dr. David Skorton, President and CEO of The American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC), "A Pathway for Future Health Equity Starts Here"; Dr. Bonnie Mason, Medical Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at the American College of Surgeons (ACS), "The Equity Imperative for Graduate Medical Education"; and Dr. William McDade, Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer at the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), "Cultivating Cultural Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in GME." Attendees also participated in breakout sessions grouped by collaborative workstreams including Graduate Medical Education, Undergraduate Medical Education, the National COVID-19 Resiliency Network, Culturally Competent Care, Research, Philanthropy and Marketing & Communications.

The retreat culminated with participants attending MSM's 38th Annual Fall Convocation and White Coat & Pinning Ceremony.
